Amersham Museum is an award winning museum located in a 15th century building in the heart of old Amersham. It is a hidden gem with a collection spanning 2,000 years of local history. There are hands-on activities and a packed programme of activities and events.
The museum’s collection features a large and diverse collection of objects relating to local craft and industry, locally manufactured and produced toys and domestic goods. Highlights in the collection can be viewed on the Interactive Floorplan.
There is a substantial collection of documents, maps and photographs, and many of the museum’s photographs can be viewed in the museum. Documents and maps can be viewed by appointment.
The museum building is the oldest domestic building in Amersham, part of a Tudor hall house. There is a wonderful garden full of herbs and plants with medicinal and culinary properties.
Friendly, enthusiastic helpers, keen to work with children and families. Prior experience is not necessary, and neither is an interest in history – any particular skills or interests you have would be a welcome addition to our education team.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible and welcomes volunteer applications from the less physically abled.
