You will be working with a small team bringing to live a library project that will be based in Mogadishu, Somalia. You will be working with the general manager plan, develop and launch this project with the aim of improve the lives of communities living in Somalia. This is a new initiative in Somalia with not a lot of such projects active in the whole country. Therefore, you will be developing and managing a unique project that aims to tack literacy and information through developmental aid. Your project will have potential to impact positively on the lives of thousands of individuals across a range of socioeconomic status. You will be managing a project that will improve the lives of children, young adults and women especially. You will have the opportunity to explore different ways to tack poverty in education and propose ways of tackling inequality through programs we can implement.

Your role:

Manage the planning and implementation of the project
Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
Define project tasks and resource requirements
Develop full scale project plans
Assemble and coordinate project staff
Manage project fundraising & budget with the team
Manage project resource allocation
Plan and schedule project timelines
Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
Provide direction and support to project team
Quality assurance
Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all involved in the project (national and international)
Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
Project evaluations and assessment of results

About organisation

We are a small NGO that aims to create library facilities and services in Mogadishu. Building free public libraries that are accessible to everyone so that all parts of the community can enjoy them.

Qualification in project management or equivalent
Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
Direct work experience in project management capacity
Experience in people management
Experience in strategic planning
Experience in risk management
Proficient in project management software
